than a dozen options to choose from in the mainstream EV segment
2025 will be the year when a major shift to
electric vehicles will be seen in the Indian auto industry. Exciting products
such as Hyundai Creta EV and Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e are already available for
sale. There is more in store in the coming months. To make informed decisions, let
us take a look at the upcoming EVs in India in 2025.
Maruti Suzuki eVitara - This will be Maruti's first EV offering in India. Top variants
will have a 61-kWh battery pack, offering a range of more than 500 km. With a
dual-motor AWD layout, Maruti eVitara is expected to deliver an exhilarating
performance.
Toyota Urban Cruiser EV - This will be the rebadged version of the Maruti eVitara. While
the hardware and interiors will be the same, Toyota Urban Cruiser EV will have
a distinctive exterior profile.
Tata Harrier EV - Tata Motors currently leads the EV market in India. One of the
upcoming products is Harrier EV that has been spotted multiple times on road
tests. Harrier EV is expected to get a dual-motor layout, along with enhanced
Terrain modes. This will ensure improved off-roading capabilities for Harrier
EV.
Tata Sierra EV - One of the legendary Tata cars, the Sierra will be brought back
in 2025. This time, it will be a more family-oriented SUV with standard 5
doors. Both ICE and EV versions will be available. Powertrain could be shared with
the Harrier EV.

mules have been spotted frequently in recent months. Upon launch, Mahindra
XUV3XO EV will take on rivals such as Nexon EV and Punch EV.
Mahindra XEV 7e - This is essentially the electric version of the popular XUV700
SUV. It has largely the same design, although the XEV 7e is based on the new
INGLO platform. XEV 7e will be Mahindra's first electric SUV with three rows.
It is expected to be available with a dual-motor AWD setup.
Kia Syros EV
- Kia recently launched the Syros SUV, which has emerged as one of the
bestsellers. Later this year, Kia will be introducing the EV version of the
Syros SUV. A number of features are expected to be borrowed from the existing
ICE Syros SUV.
Kia Carens EV - Kia will be launching the Carens facelift this year. It is
expected to be followed by the launch of Carens EV. Core hardware such as
battery pack, electric motor and other related componentry will be borrowed
from Hyundai Creta EV.
Renault Kiger EV - This will have the same exterior profile as the ICE Kiger.
However, there will be some EV-specific updates such as a charging port at
front and closed-off grille. Some new features could be introduced with the
Kiger EV.
Honda Elevate EV - While test vehicles have not been spotted, it is likely that
Honda may be conducting the tests at an overseas location. The company had
followed the same strategy for the ICE Elevate.
